Greater Himalayan rangeThe Sanskrit meaning of the Himalaya is home of snow, has many snow covered silvery summits and number of gigantic glaciers from which rivers originate. Himalaya formed about 60 million years ago, is the gods biggest gift to India. It is the youngest mountain in the world and still in the process of growing.

Stretching for about 2400 Kms. And as wide as up to 250 Kms. At places is a treasure home of natural wonders. A major part of the Himalaya falls in India and there are three transverse zones in Himalaya.

•  Western Himalaya ( Jammu - Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh )

•  Central Himalaya ( Hill Districts of Uttar Pradesh )

•  Eastern Himalaya ( From Shangrila Range upto Brahmaputra watershed )

Lahoul ValleyThe territory of Western Himalaya can be divided into three major zones - "The Shivaliks" also known as the foothills starting from the foothills of Punjab, "The Middle or Inner Himalaya" (Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar) and "The Greater Himalaya". Between theses foot hills and Greater Himalayan ranges lies the sheltered valleys, rivers, lakes, dense forests, glaciers , waterfalls and snowcapped peaks, nature has gifted that a tourist can imagine.

Himalaya has attracted people down the ages. Lure of the Himalaya has been a recurrent theme in literature. It has lured even worldly creatures like us. Not only intrepid mountaineers and pilgrims, ordinary travelers also feel the call of the Himalaya irrestible . Nature lovers generally trek for getting the feel of close to nature. A visit to Himalaya is the best mountain holiday one can have.
