The most natural way of exploring the wonders of Himalaya is trekking. Trekking infuses a feeling of comradeship ,self reliance besides inculcating a sense of perseverance. The vast expanse to the highest mountain chain, sheer magnitude of its snowy heights and indefinable feeling of joy and elation that they evoke in the mind of a trekker, make a trek in the Himalaya an experience to be remembered. Interested to gain such a wonderful experience ??? pack up your rucksack for the thrill and join Trek India’s 7 days sojourn in one of the most romantic valleys – Manali in Himachal Pradesh. Picture postcard perfect Manali, with its fertile valleys, imposing forests and fast flowing rivers set against the backdrop of high- clad mountains provides everything that an adventure seeking youth desires.

THE SCHEDULE

Day1: Report at the base camp Jagatsukh ( Aprox. 5900 Feet ). Allotment of tents, relax and free time till lunch. Introduction and acclimatization walk in surrounding hills in the post lunch session. Lecture on Himalaya in the evening. Camp fire after dinner.

Day2: Morning exercises followed by the breakfast. Walk to the rock climbing site to learn the basics of rock craft. Post lunch wander into the wild, learn the techniques of river crossing, wiggle your toes in the stream pond followed by  Adventure Movie.  Camp fire after dinner.

Day3: Trek To Jamaree Dhar : (Alt.: aprox 8,500 Feet.  Trekking time:5–6 Hrs.)
Initially an uphill trek till the temple of Naag Devta, through the old village Bhanara and then a gradual uphill trek through the forest of cedar, spruce and oak takes us to a beautiful campsite at Jamaree Dhar. Overnight at camp.

Day4: Trek to Sarotu :  ( Alt. 10,800 Feet. Trekking time: 5-6 Hrs..)
Initially a gradual uphill trek through the boulders and beautiful meadows and then through the thick forest of cedar, spruce and oak. Camp on an alpine pasture Sarotu carpeted with fern and alpine flowers in the Summer, wherefrom a chain of snowcapped mountains gives a visual feast. Overnight  at Sarotu camp.

Day5:  Excursion Day :
Trek to the snow slopes for indulging in snow games. Back to Sarotu Camp.

Day6 : Trek to base camp Jagatsukh : ( Alt. 5900 Feet. Trekking time : 4-5 Hrs. )
Descending down the lush green pastures of Sarotu, trek passes through the spectacular village Sethan, Chhalet and Shuru. Reach at Base camp Jagatsukh,by lunch time.

Day7: Check out after breakfast.

When can you join : The first group will report at base camp, Jagatsukh on 15th of April and last on 15th June, 2010.

How to Participate: Kindly contact us for the application form and forward alongwith the demand draft of the fee, favouring Trek India payable at Manali/ Ahmedabad/Indore.

How to reach: The base camp, Jagatsukh is located 6 Kms. short of the internationally famous  Manali, on the left bank and is  approximately 10 minutes drive from Manali.

Manali is about 560 Kms. From Delhi. There are overnight buses from Delhi. Semi deluxe, deluxe, airconditioned and Volvo buses are available. Bhuntar which is 50 Kms. short of Manali is connected by air.

Participants please note:

The Programme schedule can be changed due to the unforeseen circumstances. In case of any illness during the expedition, the expences for medical treatment, travel and porter etc. to be borne by the concerned individual. Alcohol  consumption is prohibited during the camp. Trek India can not be held responsible for any accident, illness or such unforeseen events during the expedition. Primary medical facilities will be available, wherever, possible. Participants will be presented certificates only on successful completion of the expedition. During the expedition the decision of the Camp Director will be final and binding.

This is an environment friendly camp, therefore, please do not throw any litter while trekking.

Cancellation and Refund:

If cancelled 15 days before date of reporting 50% will be refunded. Less than 15 days  before date of reporting- no refund please.

You Should Bring The Following:

Rucksack, sleeping bags (if available) cotton shirts, cotton pants, woollen pullover, jacket, muffler, woollen cap, cotton and woollen socks, trekking shoes, gloves, light towel, chappals, light rain coat or plastic sheet, sunglasses ( other than blue colour ), torch with cells, water bottle, electoral powder, lunch box, petroleum jelly/ Vaseline/ cold cream, toiletries, needle with thread, ball point pen, a notebook, personal medical kit, soap etc.
